Jo Sturgess | Graphic designer based in Aalborg

My name is Jo Sturgess, and I am a graphic designer with a strong interest in the branding, marketing and communication of businesses.

I am a curious and enthusiastic designer who loves to try new things, take on a challenge and find alternative ways of solving tasks. I have a good head for business and love to use my creativity in a commercial context.

I am currently employed in the marketing department at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort, where I am responsible for the design and production of all printed and online marketing material, ensuring that it is in keeping with the company’s design guide. My primary tasks include designing adverts, Flash banners and sales material such as brochures and flyers; maintaining the website; sending newsletters; and managing the company’s social media pages. It is a fast-paced and ever-evolving work environment and no two days at work are ever the same.

In my spare time I work on assorted freelance design jobs, allowing me to use my creativity in slightly different ways than I am able to in Himmerland. I particularly enjoy designing logos and visual identities, brochures and others sales materials.

In June 2010 I graduated from University College Nordjylland with an AP degree in Graphic Design Technology. The course covered various aspects of graphic design, including the necessary technical skills, design & aesthetics, communication, marketing, drawing and basic financial management.

During my time in Himmerland I have been fortunate enough to take part in a variety of additional courses, including QR codes, SEO, mobile marketing and social media marketing.

I am originally from Cornwall in the UK and moved to Denmark in 2008, where I now live with my partner in Aalborg. I am a positive and friendly person who can always be depended upon. I work hard, take pride in my work and am always pushing my limits.

In my spare time I love…
travelling • kitesurfing • snowboarding • mountains • beaches • cooking • lazy Sunday afternoons at home • good food and good wine with good friends • thunderstorms • taking photos • barbeques • summer • fresh snow • a cosy armchair and a good book • and much more…
